Week 2: I Posted a 2nd Time!!!

Like many others, I have created blogs for a variety of purposes. To get to a second or another subsequent post can be tricky.  I've already worked over 65 hours this week at my job. Putting time into this is hard. Thankfully, I'm excited to share some fun things and progress on my first couple of patterns.

I ordered yarn...I can't believe I did it. The goal is to use it to create samples of my ideas. I've ordered a variety of yarn from Knitpicks. I don't want to sound like a constant advertisement for Knitpicks, but it's such a great source of inspiration and color. I'll share some pics of my most recent LYS (local yarn store) purchases soon, so you know I that I love to support them as well.

I was most recently at NW Wools in Multnomah Village (http://www.northwestwools.com/). It's practically walking distance from home. I purchased a couple of speckled skeins of fancy sock yarn (https://madelinetosh.com/rainbow/). Look for the color "Radness" which is the first one on the second line on my screen. I love bright colors. This was a birthday present for me...the best kind.

Ok, to the patterns I'm drafting. If anyone is interested in testing or working through my draft as I am, please let me know. I'm starting with a cropped cotton boxy top. I'm using lace and fingering weight yarn. I'll post pictures of the WIPs assuming I get farther. I'm working on both a knit and crochet version of my vision.

Have a great week!

A New Spring, a New Blog

Tomorrow is the first day of spring. It's the perfect time to start anew. This blog is for me to share my love of both crochet and knitting, showcase my pattern development, and bring awareness of the fun crafty happenings around me.

I've lived in the Portland area since the later part of 2009. PDX is my home, and I love it. Since I have a full-time job with more than 40 hours a week of work, there isn't much time to craft. I plan to share great ideas for those who either don't have much time or would like quicker projects. Instant gratification is wonderful.

My first weekly check-in is to show the start of my simple boxy top. I've been swatching some of KnitPicks' Curio (http://www.knitpicks.com/yarns/Curio__D5420245.html). I love the colors that this cotton is available in and the yardage is fabulous (this is an unpaid advertisement). There is also a sock yarn sale on KnitPicks currently...scary tempting. Here are some very early images of my progress :). I hope to make both a knit and crochet version of my idea.

Happy crafting!
